Introduction
AmberKit ("we", "our", or "the app") is a personal observation tool for tracking changes in transparent items such as phone cases, earbud covers, and acrylic accessories. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the AmberKit iOS application.
Information We Collect and Store
AmberKit is designed to store your data locally on your device. We do not operate servers that collect or store your personal observation content.
Data stored on your device may include:
- Account credentials — locally generated username and password stored in the iOS Keychain when you use Quick Login
- Session state — login status stored in UserDefaults
- Observation data — item names, materials, yellowing levels, notes, photos, comparison records, and timestamps
- Voice notes — short audio recordings saved temporarily on device when you record a voice note
- Points balance — your in-app Points balance and redemption credits
- Usage counters — counts of items, records, comparisons, and voice notes
We do not upload your photos, voice notes, or observation records to external servers.
How We Use Your Information
All data is used solely to provide app functionality on your device, including:
- Displaying your observation board and item history
- Saving before/after comparisons
- Managing your Points balance and in-app purchases
- Maintaining your local login session
Device Permissions
AmberKit requests permissions only when you use related features. There is no permission-management screen in the app.
| Permission | When requested | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | When you tap Take Photo on the Capture screen | Photograph clear items to track yellowing and surface changes |
| Photo Library | When you tap Import Photo or set comparison images | Import existing photos of your clear items |
| Microphone | When you tap Record Voice Note | Record short voice notes about cleaning or condition changes |
| App Tracking Transparency (ATT) | Once after entering the main app | System dialog only; used to request tracking authorization per Apple's framework |
| Push Notifications | When you tap Enable Review Reminders | Request authorization for local review reminders; the app does not process notification payloads |
You may deny any permission; the related feature will not function until permission is granted in iOS Settings.
In-App Purchases
AmberKit offers consumable in-app purchases through Apple StoreKit. Payment is processed by Apple. We do not collect or store your payment card information. Purchase history is managed by Apple in accordance with Apple's privacy practices.
Points product IDs: com.amberkit.p1 through com.amberkit.p6.
Data Retention and Deletion
Data remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app.
Delete Account (Mine tab): Permanently removes your Keychain credentials, Points balance, observation items, records, comparisons, reminders, and all other locally stored app data. This action cannot be undone.
Log Out clears your session but keeps credentials on device for Quick Login.
Children's Privacy
AmberKit is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share your observation content with third parties. Apple processes in-app purchases according to its own privacy policy.
Security
Local data is protected by iOS device security. Keychain credentials use Apple's secure storage APIs.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
